Be a good consumer. Shop around for a receptive clerk. Yes, they are prevented from giving legal advice but some are more helpful than others. Some in the county court clerk's office will piously tell you that all is lost, judgement is coming for all your sins, you will go straight to blazes in a straw handled basket.
Another will helpfully tell you that perhaps, in one true case, notification to a lawyer on the other side was returned, invalid address. Jokingly, the clerk stated, "And we're not either of us gonna tell him, right?" in a playfully conspiratorial tone of voice.
Stay away from the moralizers, they tend to be psychos interested only in chopping others to better exercise their gall bladders by overdosing on too much pie.
Someone kind in speech or perhaps posessed of humor is the one to approach. Remember, be your own intelligence agency, spy out those from the other side best disposed to help you press forward to total victory.

Intelligently,

Keyser Soze
