After spending 45 minutes on hold with Citibank, I finally got through to a real person.

Apparently, as of July 14th they gave (?) my account to GC Services and the guy couldn't help me.

My last payment to them was cashed (according to my bank statement) on May 15th - which was due to them by the 29th. I didn't pay anything in June and then sent them a check mid-July, which was cashed on July 24th.

If they gave my account to GC Services on the 14th and supposedly don't have control of my account, then did that check that they cashed on the 24th (for $250) just go out the window to count for nothing?

The oh so joyous part - the guy said it was indicated in my account that the reason they turned it over so fast was that I had an incorrect phone number. The number they "had" on file was from over 4 years ago when I last moved. They HAD my new number on file, god knows what they did with it, because I was getting telemarketing calls for my Citibank card often trying to sell me "credit protection" services and "addons" to my account!

This morning when I was out, I got another call from GC Services on the machine, this time from a different person (wonder if they took "Karen" off the case when I told her she was breaking the law by calling a relative multiple times) wanting me to call him back.

My question is now, what do I do from here? I still haven't received anything from GC Services in the mail. Do I call up "Kevin" who left the message and tell him to put it in writing and if he, like "Karen" tells me they "don't do business that way" what is my response?

Thanks so much for everyones help. I feel absolutely clueless as to how to deal with this. I had spotless credit until my SO's layoff and this is turning into an absolute nightmare.
