CR Reporting - 7 years from when?

The debt in question is an installment loan to Wachovia Bank, originated in SC, defaulted in 2000. It will be paid in full by October of this year.

I had called Wachovia attempting to negotiate removal of negative information from my CR in exchange for payment in full. They won't negotiate this, which didn't surprise me much, but they also went so far as to say this will show on my CR 7 years from date of last payment activity (Sept, 2003). My understanding from the text of the FCRA is that it's 7 days from date of delinquency for this type loan, which would be somewhere around Sept of 2000.

Can anyone clarify this issue for me?
