SOL Question (unique)

Hi,
I have a kind of unique situation where I am being sued by a collection agency. I am in the Navy and am stationed in Kings Bay, GA but my home of record is Miami, FL. I am being sued in Miami (which I found out is OK for them to do so). Anyway, The SOL for Florida is 4 years for a credit card and I received my summons in June of 2002. This is way past the SOL (the debt is from 1997). The date on the summons I received was May of 2002, but I later found out online that this lawsuit was originally filed in August of 2001 and they kept getting returned service until June of 2002 when they finally caught up with me in GA. The last statement I got from that bank was in December of 1997 even though I didn't pay on it for several months before that. Does the statute of limitations cover me until I am served or am I screwed since they originally filed it in August of 2001? I haven't been able to go to court on this because of my obligations to the Navy, but I will probably end up there next month. Please help if you can.
