I just ordered my credit report and I am now going to try and get some of the negative items removed. Some of them are near the 7 year mark and the rest are at about 6+ years. Do I write to the Collection Agency first or do I dispute with the Credit Reporting agency? Also, can you send validation to the Original Creditor? Or is that something you can only do for the Collection Agency? Hope I do not sound like a complete idiot. Thanks for any help.

One more thing...At the begining of the year I was send a summons from a collection agency. I hired a lawyer and the case was dropped shortly after. They did not have valid proof that I owed them the money and my automobile was also illegally repo'ed. The collection agency removed the debt from the credit report but the original creditor has the debt still listed. Is there any easy way to get this removed or will I be starting something that I do not want to start? Thanks again for any suggestions! Tera
