Actually the Fed.Homestead Exempt. is up to $17,345. and this is doubled if husb & wife are both filing. The equity is figured at NET after normal selling expenses, average 7% of sales price. You figure average sales price based on current market value -10% for a "forced" sale. Here is a link to find out your home's current value.
