Anyone hear of these people?

I just got a letter from American Mediation & Alternative Resolutions about the lawsuit that the CA filed against me. They say they may have some good news about this issue and that they are not associated with those that filed the suit. They just say that I can contact them at their number.

Is anyone familiar with these people or what type of firm it is? I have a feeling that they just do mediation and try to help the two sided come to an agreement without going to court. They must get paid by someone, but it won't be me because I can't afford that. I'm assuming that the SOL issue would probably not be any good trying to go through them either?

Any information would be appreciated. I'm just wondering if calling them is something I should consider or if I should just stay away and take my chances in court, though I'm worrried about losing and having an $1800 debt increased by a couple thousand by court costs and attorney's fees.

Thanks!
