About 3 years ago I had cable service and once I moved and cancelled the service I returned the cable box that was part off the service. Now on my credit report, there is a charge off for $240 (the cost of the cable box)and this is owned by a collection agency. But the box was returned and the cable company has confirmed that the account balance is $0. But when I called the CRA they validated the debt. What can I do? I am just trying to make sure my credit is good, b/c I am trying to buy a house next year. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
