MBNA Chargeoff

I have a $12K MBNA account that was charged off 2 months ago. The account is being collected on by Wolpoff and Abramson. I do not talk to them. I'm in Texas. Last payment was October 2002. I am current on all other accounts. My questions are:

1. What impact, if any, will paying on a charged off account have on my credit score?

2. From a credit score perspective, what is worse having an uncollectable $12K judgment against you and remaining current on all other accounts or filing bankruptcy?

3. If Wolpoff is attempting to collect, does that mean that MBNA has not sold the account?

4. Does Wolpoff actually file suits on behalf of MBNA to collect or do they farm it out to local counsel?

5. Does Wolpoff or MBNA typically attempt to garnish bank accounts? If so, have they ever been known to seek garnishment at the time of filing suit or wait until they've obtained a final judgment?

Any answers you can provide will be much appreciated.
