Do you know how to Shephardize a case? Actually easier to do that at a law library - Find out if any subsequent cases cited that or overturned it. When I was taking legal research and writing, the law professor made many unkind comments about the craziness of the California law - she was dead on about that. Basically she said to stay away from it if you could. Perhaps-if they bring in Mahon- you could argue that it was at BEST persuasive and not at all binding as the fact pattern doesn't match.
