There's no hard and fast timeline or predictor of whether or not you'll be sued. For 5K they *may* sue, but there's just no way to tell. If you own property, and if it looks like you have assets, they may be more inclined to sue. If you have nothing (believe me, they can find out !) then they may not find it worth it to sue you at all.

Just because it was returned to Providian its not an indicator of a lawsuit. It'll likely just be assigned to yet another collection agency.
