Hi
I am being sue by Discover card. The case comes up the 19th. I stoped paying on the account in Nov of 2003. They wouldn't work with me to reduce my payments or interest rate. The payments were just to high. I have paid on the account for 4 years. I only charged about $1200.00 worth the stuff. The interst charges took me overmy limit which was $1500.00. At one time I called them and said I had $1000.00 olaars extra money coming in and told them I would give them 2 post dated checks. They were to cash one in a week and one the next week. Well thay cash them both the next day.I was able to stop payment on one of them, but not the other. This overdrew my checking account a couple hundred dollars with over draft charges. Now they want $5000.00. My question is do I have any defense. Should I contact their lawyer and ask for a settlement, or should I go to the hearing andask for a settlement then. I live in pa Thanks for your help
