Many states allow CA's to collect into states on behalf of an out of state creditor without specific licensing in your state. Nevada, where I live is a very restrictive state for CA's, and yet it is still legal for CA's to collect into NV on behalf of non-NV companies. Just to ask, how old is the debt involved? North Carolina is one of the most forgiving states for Statute of limitations. All debts except promissory notes are past their SoL after 3 years of delinquency.
