i have had a judgement creditor take a payment plan as opposed to a wage garnishment. For much less a month than what they were going to get from the garnishment. It is because they don't want to have to take the time to fight it in court and there are no guarantees the courts will side with the creditor. So, they will sometimes take what they can get. From what I have understood the judges and courts here like both parties to try to work it out before seeing the judge. that way it is not a waste of the judge's time.
