I got a letter today about a debt I supposedly owed from 1984. The debt was actually my ex-husband's and I got a letter for the first time today, 8/11. I live in KY and the statute is 5 years. Does anyone know if I can be held responsible for this debt. I called as soon as I got this as I had no idea what it was about as my credit card bills are paid in full every month. This guy informs me it is from 1982 to 1984. This is the first contact I have ever received and he said he would be willing to work out a deal and deduct the interest which is over 2000K now for a $982 debt. What should I do. Help me if you can. I paid my ex's bills in the past, but after almost 20 years I don't want to dish out $1000 if I don't have to since he is now a millionare. HELP
