Need help "Camco" !!

Every one has heard of them by now. My story is like all the others except I made the mistake of trying to settle. My original debt was $345 from 1988, now is $2,138 ... after 2 months of dealing with them on the phone they told me they would settle for a mere $200!!
This sounded to could to be true ! I gave them my bank info and the post dated check is supposed to hit my bank August 31st, 2003.
After finding this site today I am going to my bank to stop payment on who "Camco" or Capital Acquisitions & Management Co. ???? Also need a letter from this site that I can send Camco .... Thanks for any help
