I have been told by the attorney that is handling this class action that their basis for the suit deals ONLY with the form of the collection letter that Scamco used (and which he says they stopped using "several months ago"). I pointed out that my letter was almost a year ago and he said it still didn't conform to what they were looking for in a person seeking to join the class. He explained in so many words that they are not suing based on any individual claims of harassment or FDCA/FDCPA violations.

So, in essence, they aren't REALLY suing for the kinds of abuses we are talking about here. I guess if you get some stupid form letter in the mail that is off on a minor technicality, that is SOOO much more distressing than some jerk screaming at you that he's going to sue you, get your boss fired (*yes* he actually threatened me with that), or pull inquiries "forever until this is paid." I guess I myself am just lucky that I scared them off, but what about the people who are still living through this nightmare?
