I don't know about the law, but I'm going through a levy now from 1994. They took every dime from my savings, my checking and have been taking most of my paycheck for 3 months now. They can collect only up to 10 years, but at the same time you can only get money up to 3 years back if you haven't filed. This is straight from their mouths. Believe me, it isn't worth it, if there is any way to start paying them, better you find them than they find you. I've found them to be very cooperative and for the most part, quite good with calls. No attitude at all. The interst they have tacked on since 1994 is over 1/2 of what they figured I owed. Bottom line, I'm almost positive they can't go back as far as 1992, this comes from many many, conversations with them over the past few months.
