Law Firm Trying to Collect on Deceased CC

Hello, I am a NY resident and I today I received a letter from a Law firm regarding the debt of a deceased family member on mine who past away in June. I am the grandson of the deceased and will be handling the matter. They're asking for a death certificate which won't be a problem. Basically, I want to know what to tell them since there is no estate and I am unable to pay off the debt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
