Don't trust ANYTHING a CA does, says or threats to do. 95% is BS. They are just trying to get you to pay as much as you can. Any amount that they don't get from you up to the full amount, they will just sell it to another CA and the process will start all over.

Since you are not involved in the account but are involved with the house and marrage, you probably need to get an attorney to work out the details for you if you want to pay it. These people LIE, LIE, LIE, LIE, LIE and just when you think that they are finished, they tell you some more LIES. They love to play good cop bad cop. DO NOT TRUST THEM.....EVER. A lawyer is an added expense but since you are not directly involved, he/she will protect your interest in this matter. A must since you want to pay them. However, not paying them would really screw up your wifes credit making all but impossible for her to do this again without some serious credit repair work. Something you might want to think about.

FYI: They are not contacting the attorney general. They are claiming they want to file a civil suit against your wife. And to be frank about it, $3300 is almost too small for them to do anything except make your life a living hell. They may sue but for $3300 probably not. They may not even be licensed to do business in your state.
