It's legal because you consent to it as a condition of your application/employment process. You don't HAVE to give your consent. Often your consent is all they way, they don't pull your credit at all.

Its the way of the world these days - your credit report is a measurement of you - and, IMO, its a BAD measurement. It IS allowed for in the FCRA, but your consent has to be in writing, otherwise they can't do it.

Sorry.. it's legal :( -- sucks.. but its legal.
