They are trying to scare you. Don't let them.

A judgment is the result of a lawsuit. That means that they have to get an attorney ($$$), pay the filing fees ($$$) and pay the sheriff or process server ($$$).

Next step is that you have to be served with the summons, which will tell you where and when you have to appear in court. It will also tell you if you need to file an answer or just show up.

When you show up in court, you will have the opportunity to present your side to the judge.

After all that, then the judge will decide the case. That is the judgment. If the judgment is in favor of the other side, you still have 30 days to appeal the decision. (Very expensive and difficult). They can not legally attempt to collect until the 30 days has gone by.

The point here is that they can not just go out and get a judgment. It is time consuming and costly. If they do go to court, you will be allowed to tell and show the judge what(if anything) you are able to pay monthly.

They only have power over you if you give it to them. Don't give them any power or let them scare you in any way.

Even if it goes to court, you still get to present your side and hope for the best.
