You are the first RI person to need help on this forum. I had not bothered to research RI statutes before this, as there was no need to. I have some good news for you. The posted SOL of 10 years for open end credit card accounts on all the websites (including mine) seem to be wrong. It is 4 years, and 6 years for an installment loan contract, (3 years for an oral contract) I am in the proccess of placing the statutes on my website under Rhode Island, it will be available by tomorrorow. In addition, and just in case I am COMPLETLY MISTAKEN (a slight possibility) There is a statute in RI which says, in effect, that if you defaulted in Conn. and then returned to RI, the Conn. SOL prevails. I will be posting THAT on the RI page as well. Are you SURE that this is an actual filed case? It may be a CA scam, check with the Court and see if there WAS a filing. Although in some States, you can be served before any filing is done. In any case, you have an ABSOLUTE DEFENSE
