I have been reading through numerous entries in this forum and I can't help but notice the interest in the original default dates. What exactly is the significance of this? If the account is later sold to someone else can they change the default date to a more recent date? I had an old southwestern bell phone bill and had agreed to make 100.00 a month payments on it. Near Christmass 1998 I was pregnant with my son and broke and only sent them fifty dollars. Then a man called me and cursed me out and told me that I was "A reflection of the ignorance that I was raised in" and threatened my job and credit. I told him that I was relocating anyway and that he could call whoever he pleased and he would not ever get another dime out of me and I haven't paid on it since. Then when Southwestern Bell merged with I think perhaps Sprint it was added to my credit report once again only with a new account opened date. Is this legal?
