I just successfully disputed a CA's hard inquiry with Equifax...the gal at Equifax told me that the CA should have pulled it as a soft inquiry if their claim was that I already had an account with them...she said that they only should pull a hard if I am applying for new credit. Perhaps try disputing the inquiry as non permissible purpose. The provision of the FCRA does seem to lump collection purpose in with the account review section, so what Equifax told me actually does make sense. And as for the troll on this thread--maybe he or she should ask for validation because the CA is breaking the law by pulling a hard and harming her credit! I just love how these bastards think the law should apply to us but not to them. Good thing I'm a firm believer in karma... -ET
