Hi everybody, I have a problem with the Associates/Citibank credit card not resolving a clear case of fraud! In NOVEMBER 2002, somebody has cashed a "convenience" check that the Associates credit card sent to my old address (thanks a lot!), for $1000. Right upon discovering that in the statement in December, I started disputing charges. It was unbelievable experience - every next call, letter, fax, email was met with complete lack of recognition. Despite their promise otherwise, I was constantly hassled by the collections. By now, it's almost amusing - so politely, nicely, answer "no, I don't think I wish to do so" in response to the Collections calls about paying them money. Meanwhile, The Associates get bought by Citibank, and now I have more layers of surprised people to talk to! Unbelievable! well, finally, they credited my account with the original $1000 IN MAY! that means half a year of late fees and charges! None of that gets cleared up! At least, they had an excuse up in June - they were allegedly changing their computer system to make it compatible with Citibank. I've filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau this week- you think that will help? I really have no energy or time to start a lawsuit... Do I have to? Last message from collections was dated today... any advice would be appreciated. Meanwhile, advice to you- don't get credit cards with them. Get an MBNA credit card - those people will call YOU to confirm an unusual transaction and will do all that is needed to resolve problems.
