My new wife has had a Providian card for a few years. Her credit was shot also so this was her only cc. The limit was 250. This last year using the advice here I've cleaned her credit and she now has CAP1, Sears MC, Chase and household cards with decent rates. I seen that her new bill for the providian card had a line for a 39.00 annual fee. and the interest had increased to 28.69 APR. This card was treated perfect the whole time regarding payments, utilization etc. As she called them and sked for a limit increase. No. Asked for waiver of the annual fee, No. And then asked for the reduction in interest rate. No. they were getting pretty hateful by now. Sooo closed the account and went online and got the corvette card for 2000 and MBNA but don't know the Limit. I thought Providian had started trying to get in the Prime market. I figured it up and the annual fee of 39 and the interest on the 250 line if the card was maxed would by 71 for a total of 110 dollars per year on a 250 dollar CL. This means 44 APR. Checking the Privacy Guard report shows that Corvette pulled EQ and Providian didn't even try. We're in Oklahoma. Though she shows a 629 at PG that is a little low due to a voluntary repo that I've not gotten EQ to remove yet and they use EQ. Seems like you have to drag EQ all the way to the courthouse door to get anything accomplished.
