If you've been denied credit for any reason within the past 90 days, you have the right to receive a free credit report. Go to experian.com, and fill out their online form. You can either get instant online access to your credit report or you can have one ordered to your home address. They will ask you for the date and name of the business that declined to give you credit. If you havent been denied credit then they will charge you a fee of $10.00 or so.

I have heard that they don't check to see if you been denied credit, so maybe you can enter in any company name and see if it works.

As long as you go to the actual credit bureau websites such as experian.com, equifax.com, and transunion.com, they are not scams or rip offs. These are the official credit bureau sites. As far as any other companies that sell credit reports, they would merely be acting as 3rd party companies that are selling the 3 major credit bureau reports.
