There is a statute of limitations.I have no idea what it is for Alaska. In Missouri I think it's 10 years. If your case is being pursued by Family Services/Division of Child Support then they do have statutes allowing them to use an administrative process (no judicial action YET!!)to get the money back. It usually termed as a "state debt".

Most states also report to CA's, some suspend licenses, do wage with-holdings, tax intercepts, etc. Your best bet! If the child was in state care for a year, try to work out a repayment agreement. Some child support units can be worse than collection agencies beause they have more state statutes allowing direct action.
