Opting out is exactly what WhyChat suggests you do before going for new credit, especially a mortgage. This Skip Locater service is nothing more than the CRA's SELLING your information, thru this so-called service, to scummy collectors. The CA's pay for this thing, then lovely Experian rats on people as soon as new information is reported from a new credit application. You have to stop them from selling your information - no matter HOW they sell it. If a CA does have an account of yours, no matter how ancient, then, unfortunately, they can do an inquiry with permissable purpose - at least on the surface. Folks have had decent sucess in getting these types of inquiries removed because the SOL has expired, that means the debt is bascially invalid and their PP evaporates.
