YOU are not obligated to pay the debt in any way. What state are you in ?
What was this lawsuit for ? Does your father have a source of income ?
What does he have as far as assets are concerned ?
Does he own a home and if so, how much equity is there ? Does he own a car ? If so, how old is it ? Was he served a summons for this lawsuit ?
Was an Answer to the Complaint filed ? There are plenty of exemptions that would very likely prevent the judgment creditor from taking a single dime or a single piece of personal property from him. Give us a few more details and we'll go from there.
