Well, I may actually be screwed....As I was tidying up my office today, I came across a a letter that I didn't reconize. Well f@ck me....IT WAS A LETTER FROM THE LAWYERS OFFICE dated a month ago. It's signed by a different lawyer than the one who called me but what difference does that make at this point. Because of my ignorance to legal terminologies, I have a letter in front of me that I barely understand. It's just really confusing. It's almost as if they're trying to trick me...this is what it sais....

"Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this noticethat you dispute the validity of the debtor any portion therefor, this office will assume this debt is valid. If you notify this office in writing within 30 days from receiving this notice, this office will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a Judgment and mail you a copy of such Judgment or verification. If you request this office in writing within 30 daysafter receiving this notice, this office will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor. This is an attemp to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose."

What confuses me is:
If there were to be a Judgment, wouldn't I be the first one to receive it or be "served" with it?
If I call the office either way, am I actually verifying that the debt is valid?
And what about the last line about "the origanal creditor". What's that all about?
