The issue I spoke of is called 'overshadowing'. Basically what that means is if an 'unsophisticated consumer' could easily misinterpret the meaning of the letter - that payment was due IMMEDIATELY, and especially if they give you a time limit to pay, then that language 'overshadows' your rights to validation (the 30 days to dispute verbage), and it is a violation of the FDCPA. Now, that's an over-simplied explanation, there are several cases that explain it in more detail.
