Lawsuits and Credit Card Fees

If a credit card company files suit against you, do the fees and interest that they have been adding to my account stop? If the lawsuit says that they are suing for $3600 and I decide to start paying them, can they resume adding the interest and over limit and god-only-knows-what other fees that added $1500 to my balance?
