I suggest you call the courthouse where you live and ask if there are any judgments filed against you. No one, except the Feds, can garnish your wages w/o first winning a judgment against you and to get THAT far they HAVE to have sued you.

So, assuming there IS a judgment, you need to ask for a copy of the case file, its your right to do so. In the case file will be all the details of the lawsuit and judgment and a "proof of service". This will show where, when, how, and to whom the summons for the lawsuit was served.

IF it proves that the service was improper, you may be able to get the judgment vacated.

So, right away call the courthouse or go there and look this up. Then you can proceed. You SHOULD have been given the opportunity to claim exemptions to that garnishment.
