I have an undated letter that I received 8-25. It was delivered certified mail. It is a summons to appear in court on 9-11 it says... Yoy are hereby notified that a lawsuit has been commenced against you & will be on this courts docket at 1:00 on the 11 day of Septto be held at _______________ If you do not appear before this court or file an answer at such time, judgement by default will be taken against you for the relief demanded inthis petition. If you intend to appear before this court at such time & dispute the petition, you must file an answer with the clerk of this court within 10 days thereafter. My question is 10 days after the 11th? Do I still have time to file an answer? I don't really have a defence I have sent the lawyer a fax & offered a 60 percent settlement & I have heard nothing. Can I just say I want a verification of the debt? What if they don't show up in court? I live in Kansas. Debt is 2 years old. Thanks so much in advance for any help.
