I have 2 charge-offs on my report and a hospital/ambulance collection. My credit score is 685 the last time I checked.

What may be helping me is the 17 accounts that I have in good standing. Four good credit cards that I use every month and pay in full every month, and a $70,000 student loan that is still in deferment (I start paying on it November).

It seems that no credit can be just as devastating to a score as bad credit.

If this isn't your case, then I will be very surprised. I don't understand how 1 bad mark on your CR could make you such a bad risk, since a medical bill isn't a scheduled payment or a open account.

I have 6 potentially negative items on my report, and my score is much higher than yours. It must be the amount of good standing accounts that balances it out, I can't see what else possibly could.
