yes, a lot of them send bogus summons that may look real. if you say there is no civil case # or index/docket number, they might have sent you a paper that has not been filed in the courts yet. take the paper with you to your court of common pleas and verify the case. they are very helpful there...they can tell you if that summon sent to you is on file. in any case, do not admit to these scumbag lawyers anything....you can answer the summon/lawyer by telling them that it was never validated. then, let them do the work!
