Equifax is the one agency that most lenders use, concentrate on that score, it is considered the "real" FICO score. That being said, the age of the collection is probably what causes it to have such a negative impact on your score. That score will rise quickly as you pay everything on time and no more negative items are reported.

As far as your immediate situation, try a local bank and go in and actually talk with a loan officer. Local banks who know you as a person tend to put much less emphasis on the score as far as approval, although the score will dictate your final rate.
