SIGNED BAIL BOND 7 YRS AGO - NEED HELP

I hope someone can give me some advise. I worked for an Alarm company(I didn't owne the business)and had an employee about 7 years ago that was arrested, I went to the Bail Bond company and signed the papers so he could be released, I kept the bond company informed as his wherabouts when they called me. I haven't heard or seen anything about this for at least the past 5 years. Today, United States bond Bureau is calling me and wanting payment for the bond. To the best of my knowledge and research, this company is a collection agency. Does a collection for a Bail Bond have a Statute of Limitations? Am I responsible for the bond? I live in Texas. Does this Collection company have to validate the date? I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
