I ended up with a collection account on my CR as
a result of a hospital bill that I was NEVER supposed
to get.

I called my insurance provider and they said I was
eligable for coverage during the period of time that
I was injured.

So, I called the HMO and they said that their records
showed that I was NOT covered.

So...

After weeks of phone calling, after speaking with my
provider, the HMO and the collection agency, I was
told that there had been and error (duh) and that
the item would be removed from collections.

WELL...

At the last minute the account was sold to ANOTHER
collection company and they did a blasted inquiry!!!

Now the NEW credit company has told me that they can
not remove it from my CR and Trans Union says that it
will be on my report for 3 years.

I'm really p!@@ed off!

I'm quite sure that the original collection agency
KNEW that the debt was a bad bill of goods and they
sold it anyway.

I didn't DO ANYTHING to deserve this stupid inquiry.

What can I do about it?

Anything???
