I am looking for suggestions on how to deal with NCO Financial in a collection issue. In May, I received a letter from NCO asking for payment in XXX amount of dollars for collections. I responded with a letter asking for verification. I never got anything from them. In late July, I received another letter from NCO giving me a settlement offer. I responded again with a letter asking for verification and again got no response back. Last week I received a phone call from NCO (voice message) about my account and how to call a rep to discuss. My past letters stated to keep all communication via mail and no phone calls. So I left the rep a message stating I have sent 2 letters in the past asking for verification and got nothing back...and also let her know that I stated in the letter to keep all communication via mail and no phone calls. I got another phone call the next day asking me to call her and verify my address. So I left her another message stating they have my correct address because I have received mailing from them that I responded to and stated again I never heard back from NCO verifying the debt. I asked her to give me her address so I can forward the letters I sent in the past to her. She just left me a message this morning stating that she is in a different office and never see's the letters. She stated I should send a letter again and there system would be updated with what my letter states. I also just received today another settlement offer for about 80% of the total. What do you feel I should do? I have tried to ask for verification and they don't respond. Should I counter with an incredibly low offer? Or should I keep trying to verify the debt? Thanks.
