If they reported to EQ before receiving your validation request, no they do not have to go back to EQ and tell them that you are disputing. However, per the FDCPA, they still have to honor your validation request and mail that info to you. If it's been over 30 days since they received your validation request, they are in violation of the FDCPA if they do anything further to collect at this point.
