I'm totally freakin out. I posted something here and no one answered. I understand that no one is getting paid to respond here, but I'd REALLY appreciate it. Here it is again:

I recently received an initial letter (you have 30 days...) from an attorney collector with a lousy reputation (they tend to sue) in the state I live in. What is the best course of action to take if I can't pay it? I'm currently unemployed and the debt is for several thousands. I'd prefer to work with the original creditor. Should I send them the cease and desist letter, or should I first send them a letter which asks to verify the debt? I don't think they have much personal info on me, FWIW. I might need to declare bankruptcy anyways due to tax debt. The last three years my income has crashed. I recently moved and have closed out my most recent bank acct. Thanks.
