I have a couple of questions. One, I saw in a post that LadyNred said "Per the FDIC, the SOL on NSF checks is 3 years" is this true for all states? I am in NY and I am being harassed by JBC for a check that they say I wrote in 1997 to Ames. They won't tell me the amount of the check or provide proof. They have threatend me with prosecution and even told my 16 year old son over the phone that "your mom is going to jail, I hope she has a lawyer". I sent them 3 certified letters, the first requesting proof, the second demanding they stop calling me, the third stating my states SOL. I also filed a complaint with the FTC. They had the nerve to call again last night while I was at school and told my son that I had better call back "within the hour". The person's name was Mack Styles. Once I notified them by certified mail, can they still call me? I want to prosecute THEM but I can't afford an attorney. FYI, my bank has no record of any such check being returned.
