Help with Credit Card Collection efforts

I lost my job in Dec '02. Since then I have had to stop paying on my credit cards. I just received a letter from an attorneys office stating that since they could not collect they would not consider suing. I live in TX, I do have an extra vehicle that I am in the process of selling to try and get some extra money, what else can they do to me? Should I just file bankruptcy? Please help.
