BK or wait and see

I was prepared to file BK, but am considering instead to wait and see what the creditors do. Is this wise or dumb? CC=10,000, medical=1800, mortgage=10,000, car=5500. I live in Neb and the last payments to CC were in 11/02 due to 6 months unemployment w/o benefits. 2 have been sent to collections the 3rd still calling. Should I save myself 900 and hope they overlook me? The largest CC is 5000
