You may feel now that you could leave the US and happily
never come back, but you may want to come back, even for
a short time, later -- for professional advancement,
family... you could even fall in love with an American while
you're down under. :-)

It would be safer to try to negotiate a payoff now for a
portion of the debt. There's no need to poison your future.
