I previously held a cc which I have been in default of for the last 12 years. I received a Civil Summons on Friday and found that the cc company has sold my debt, as of 4 years ago, to another company and now that company is threatening to get a judgment against me. The original lender did not ever pursue the matter, other than harassing me. Now this company has taken on the debt and is attempting to collect in a manner that is both frightening and upsetting to me. I am over 75 years old and this company is using what I feel to be terroristic threatening to coerce me into paying a debt that has passed its SOL. My complaint is that the state is going along with them in processing Civil Summons and having the sheriff to serve them. Doesn't this make the State now a party to this harassment, especially since the debt is beyond its SOL?
