But don't they need some kind of reasonable proof to take to the judge to get a court order. I mean I have heard of them freezing assets and stuff pending a lawsuit, but usually in big cases where there are considerable assets and there might be possible reason to suspect fraud.

I agree with your advice though on making a notice out to protect your checking account.
